The Thread
Paul has spent three chapters building one verdict — guilty, for everyone. Session 6 begins at the hinge of the book: "But now." God's righteousness appears, not from the Law, but through faith in Christ — guilty sinners freely justified by grace, as a gift, through his blood.
Main Point
After universal condemnation, God reveals a righteousness that comes entirely from Him — justifying sinners freely by grace through faith in Christ's atoning death. Justice isn't set aside; it is fully satisfied at the cross.
Application
Do you treat your sin casually — or does it carry the weight of what it cost? The cross wasn't a formality. If faith means trusting entirely in Another, where are you still trying to earn your standing instead of resting in what Christ has done?
Key Quote
"Christ is our propitiation. Out of love for the glory of God, he absorbs the wrath of God that was rightfully ours, so that when we are justified as a gift by his grace, God will be manifestly just in counting as righteous those who trust in Jesus." — John Piper
If You Missed It
1.What does your attitude toward sin reveal about how seriously you take what required the death of Christ?
2.If justification is entirely by faith in Another — where are you still trying to contribute to your own righteousness?
3.Do you pursue obedience to earn standing with God, or as a response to grace already given?
Memory Verse
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus."Romans 3:23–24
